Author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch has done it again! She has written a story for young students about a fact of history – the Nazi Lebensborn program, with skill and sensitivity. Many do not know that young Ukrainian girls were literally stolen from their homes or schools, brainwashed, and shipped to Germany. Thanks to Marsha’s efforts, school children across Canada will read about this inhumane program.
On February 17th, the author will visit 4 Ukrainian Catholic schools: St. Sofia, Cardinal Josyf Slipyj, St. Demetrius and St. Josaphat with presentations about the book. Later that evening, there will be a book launch at the Ukrainian Resource Centre, 145 Evans Ave. at 7:00 p.m.
This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the author, hear her always excellent presentation and purchase Stolen Child and other books by Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch.

Over 400 people packed the Ukrainian Cultural Centre to view the phenomenal documentary The Soviet Story. Thunderous applause and congratulations greeted the director Evins Snore after the screening. On January 31, 2010 Koota Ooma will be screening of the excellent award winning documentary “The Soviet Story”  by Edvins Snore at  the Ukrainian Cultural Centre 85 Christie Street at 3:00 pm.  Newly collected archival materials expose the criminal history of the Soviet Union, as never before.  Everyone must see this important film!

Sofia and Ts. Palijiw schools came to Koota Ooma to preview a great new series of books” Ya liubliu chytaty” – “I Love to Read!”   The children perused numerous books from this multi-level reading series and pronounced them great!  Justine Lewkowicz from Kontakt  interviewed the students and K. O. owner Tania Onyschuk.  The spot aired on Dec. 26, however it will surely be repeated some time in the new year.

Учні шкіл Св. Софії та ім. Ц. Паліїв відвідали крамницю Кута Ума, щоб розглянути  цікаві книжечки із серії  “Я люблю читати”.  Усім сподобалися яскраво ілюстровані книжки на різні теми.  Юстина Левкович з телевізійної програми Контакт розмовляла з дітми й перевела інтерв′ю з власником крамниці Т. Онищук.  Хоч програму вже висвітлювали, її напевно повторять у новому році.
